n-verse Portraits

A scanner reads an image one line at a time. When the subject moves while the head travels, time is written into the picture as a spatial distortion: a one-dimensional sensor records a two-dimensional image of a four-dimensional event.

The real scans run to tens of thousands of pixels on a side and are meant to be explored up close; the image above is a placeholder test asset standing in until the Phase 1 content migration.
